Most of the tracks are easily recognizable classic hymns or carols. One of these “Holy, Holy, Holy” is not usually considered a Christmas hymn but it is a nice arrangement. I didn’t recognize “Angels Blessing” but there was no composition information in the liner notes so it must be a tune with which I am unfamiliar. There is a more contemporary song, “Christmas Is….” that will be familiar if you listen to a contemporary Christian music radio station. It is the only one that has a vocal part (sung by Mark Masri not Brickman).

The arrangements are pretty much in the classic Jim Brickman style so there are no surprises there. Brickman’s earlier Christmas album The Gift is on my “frequent play” list from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. This CD is a little too similar to that one (and less familiar) for it to become a favorite yet. But it is very pleasant and relaxing music for Christmas and would be a good gift idea for someone who wants non-intrusive Christmas carol music to keep playing in the house during the holidays.
