Though it doesn’t seem to be a big budget production, it struck me as being well done. I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could, but since I can’t I rounded it up to 5 because I felt it did deserve more than 4. The story is outlined in the product description, so I won’t repeat it. This was a moving story that made me teary-eyed at times, but in a good way. The ony reason I could see for giving it a PG rating was that it did deal with a death at one point, so I guess that was the “thematic element.” There was no foul language, violence or sex. It is all very family appropriate.
My only complaint is that there are a few places in the movie where the characters don’t say their lines very clearly and it was difficult to catch the words.
The movie presents a much needed reminder about the things that are of greatest worth in life, and it does it without feeling heavy-handed.
My husband thinks many of the modern Christmas movies are pretty sappy, but he actually enjoyed this one.

Most Christmas movies have a special place in my heart and I have never felt that there were enough good ones. I was attracted to this by the synopsis of the story and the fact that I think Bruce Davison is a terrific actor.
What I didn’t expect was to be watching this the day after my brother passed away after a long, drawn out illness. But I was trying to find something that I thought would occupy my mind for a little while. It gave me a great deal more than I’d bargained for. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone–it says a great deal about renewing the spirit and caring about other people as well as being a great Christmas story. Yes, there are some sad moments, but I had shed so many tears that a few more didn’t seem to matter. There were some instances that the acting left a bit to be desired (not Mr. Davison’s), but the overall feel and idea of the story should not be missed. In a world where car chases and gratuitous violence seem to rule a large sector of our entertainment choices, I’d take something like this any day of the week. Give it a try–you’ll be glad you did.

We just watched this yesterday and really enjoyed it. It is an interesting story and it is great to see how lives can be changed by just one person. Mystery, romance and lots of Christmas good cheer.

Me and my husband finally agreed that this movie was a holiday movie worth watching. After watching many of the classics that you watch year after year. We found this movie to have a different edge. It was definitely more modern than the usual holiday movies. This movie focused on the true meaning of christmas. The joy of giving is emphasized and is what the movie is about. It had its happy and sad and was overall a very good movie because in the end you feel as though you yourself want to become a secret santa..

While it was a little slow at the beginning, this movie did pick up the pace and had a great message about giving and putting others before yourself. One of the main characters, “Nick” was an excellent actor and very convincing. As such, the viewer couldn’t help but like him right away. I only wish someone had explained the story behind “The Drummer Boy” song to the lead female character as she seemed greatly disturbed by this song.
All in all, I would recommend this movie for “Family Night” and applaud the producers for creating a good family movie void of any foul language, sexuality, or violence.
